Texas One Call
System
The Texas One Call system is a no charge, centralized dispatch center that is set up to identify and locate primary utility services up to the private property meter and must be used for excavations taking place within 48 hours of excavation. Locate orders are sent to each public utility company for their technicians to initiate a locate request, however there is no follow up to insure that all orders have been executed. There is also no program in place to make sure all utilitites are located. Many times the excavator may start to dig before all the utilities are identified, causing damage, loss of utilities, and even risk of fire or other loss.

The Universal One Call System
The Universal One Call system is a fee based universal dispatch system that is set up to locate all utilities, both public and private, using the benefits of the Texas One Call System and the follow up of our own professional utility locating technicians . Locate orders are issued for the utilities managed by private companies as well as the public utility lines. Any lines not under the Texas One Call are then located by our in house staff. Verification is then made on site to insure that all utilities are properly identified and excavation crews are notified to proceed.
Additional support is available for any questions covering utility location or depth on site. Once on site they identify all utilities at one time. There is also direct contact with the excavator and follow up to insure that any questions about digging are resolved. This drasticly reduces the risk of damage, interuption of service, and risk of fire or other loss.
The Universal Dispatch Center monitors all locates and scheduled excavations. The system is set up to incorporate multiple work sites using different contractors with different dig dates.
There are several types of privately owned utilities that are often missed by the Texas One Call system. These utilities include the following: high pressure gas and communication lines, private fiber optic lines, private illumination, fire mains and sprinklers, and leased out cable casements and culverts.
